I- I don't think I like the idea of hurting the dead too much... either...

[They're already dead do they really need to be hurt even more? He hopes that the action will go as smoothly as possible but he knows that he can't really hope for the best here. Getting the souls safely captured so they can be cared for and released properly is important. So, it's a risk that he's willing to take. He's just going to have to be brave.

At least Emet-Selch's manner seems to be instilling some of that in him. There's always something about the man that makes Izuku feel like he's talking to a teacher or a mentor. He appreciates that...]

That might be the best plan we can rely on for now. The woods where the ghosts were appearing is just a short horse ride north of the city.

[Time to head out! Horses are readily available to rent. Horse rides are okay, right?]

[ Horse rides are indeed okay. He nods. ]

Let's be off then. We can discuss our strategy on the way there.

[ And as Izuku will discover, Emet-Selch is quite accustomed to horses. Or at least, beasts of burden similar to them. Before coming here, he hadn't ridden a living creature in quite some time. ]

Are you averse to posing as a distraction?

[Izuku is still a little nervous around horses. So getting onto the rental sadle is a bit of a tricky moment of Izuku fumbling with the reins before spooking the horse and finally managing to get his leg over and himself properly mounted. It's awkward and not very knightly... And probably looks pretty silly how he fumbles about before he gets his horse straight.

But off they go!]

Ah- Ahh! I don't mind trying to pose as a distraction but... How do you distract a ghost?

[That's a legit question. What do you do? Wave your hands around? Are ghosts and spirits even interested in humans most of the time?]

If they are hostile then they should already be looking for someone to target. You would simply need to make yourself known to them then. Otherwise, I find throwing something to work quite well.

[ It would go right through them but, all willing, still grab their attention. ]

Throwing something...??

[Izuku blinks. Well, if he is going to try and bait a ghost to kill him he'll take any advice he can get. Except my exclude the killing part.]

I think I can do that... I hope ghosts are irritated by flying rocks or something like that.

They were once people. You would take offence to a rock hurled at your person, would you not?

[ He gently uses his knees to nudge his horse to the path continuing north out of the city. ]

If rocks do not work, your blood magic may also snare their attention. Do not overthink it, boy.

[ Please. ]

I guess... you're right about that.

[Who wouldn't dislike having rocks thrown at them. It makes perfect sense after a a second. Even if he's not sure how well that will go still. He might wince just a little at the mention of his blood magic, though.

... Maybe avoid that. Yeah. No blood magic..........

After some travelling and they exit the city they seem to enter the woods that are infested with the curious spirits that are causing a ruckus this way. Wild spirits haunting the woods that need to be captured in glass jars with minimal damage. The woods itself are as eerie as anyone would expect them to be. Dark and thick with overgrown foliage where the light can barely penetrate. The wood looks old and dying, the brush and foliage brown and struggling to flourish. The pathway ends quickly so soon they are travelling on rocky ground and they might have to dismount soon for the sake of the horses ankles.]

This already feels like we're walking into some sort of bad story...

[Eep. Was that a shadow that floated across the path? Or was it a floating little orb of blue...??]

[ When his horse comes to a stop of its own accord, balking at the uneven ground, he carefully dismounts. He seems quite unperturbed by any and all shadows or strange lights. ]

No need to be so alarmed. The dead can only do so much to the living.

[ He loosely ties the reins to a branch - one that may be easily snapped with enough force in case the horse felt the need to flee. ]

Let's prepare your trap before we venture further.

Ah... Right.

[Izuku swallows a nervous lump in his throat. But he does shuffle in his bag and pulls out the first glass jar that has been magicked to hold wisps and spirits inside of it safely.

He looks up at Emet-Selch and he does feel a little bit of tense relief that they seem to be working well together so far. Despite everything that's happened...]

These are supposed to be able to capture the spirits when we find them.

[ He gestures for Izuku to hand the jar to him so he can have a look. He can't say he fully understands the spells woven into its wards, even with his studies in Death magic. However, they do at least seem to not be shoddily slapped together. ]

...I wonder why the quest asked for these spirits to be captured rather than sent on their way. Does that not strike you as odd?
